C'mon

C'mon continue to harness the insanity of their live show on record and the Toronto power trio perfect their sound on Bottled Lightning. When original drummer Randy Curnew split town last year, C'mon's effortless chemistry was threatened. If this wasn't Ian Blurton and Katie-Lynn Campbell - two truly dedicated musical forces - C'mon would have bitten the dust. Instead, heavy hitter Dean Dallas Bentley entered the fold and C'mon wrote their most dynamic punk record yet. An underrated lyricist, Blurton wisely tears into urban decay on "Waiting for a New Day" and "Pay the Price," and locks into the ass-shaking groove of the most excellent "Waste My Time." A stint on Maple Music didn't soften C'mon but there is a cool string section (featuring Anne Bourne, Owen Pallett and Julie Penner) on "All Time High," and an unprecedented lead vocal by Campbell on the sexy "Unh." Bottled Lightning proves C'mon have evolved without missing a beat.
